I was a skeptic a couple of years ago about SEO, and for those of you who don’t know what SEO is -it is Search Engine Optimization. When I worked in the telecommunications sector RF was black art and I always associated SEO to the RF world….until I met my SEO Director, who demonstrated web pages climbing in rank, keywords getting traction on Google and leads calling in with my very own website for Iffel International. One of my keywords ranked number 2 on Page 1 of Google within 48 hours. Many who have tried our SEO service be it Localized or Global SEO, have been satisfied making Iffel a reputable SEO marketing agency in the Greater Los Angeles area.
So, my simple answer to that question, is YES, SEO does work if done correctly. There are a lot of SEO “experts” out there but you need to draw parallels between a SEO professional to a Surgeon in the medical world. SEO professionals are specialists who understand code, science and algorithms which help with online ranking within search engines, such as Google, Yahoo and Bing. It is not an art, it is a science and if you don’t understand it, don’t even pretend to! Many know enough to be dangerous in their sales pitch, but because it is science based, make sure you review the facts and the data which are readily available. I just reviewed the statistics on an attorney account we have this afternoon, and we have managed to get to the first page of Google in 16 days (instead of 6 months) for a couple of keywords. Now this is a tangible result which empowers business owners to start believing in what they pay for. So don’t hesitate to get the facts.
So I have answered question 1, yes SEO really works. Do you need it – absolutely. Will it increase my sales, well that depends! Depends on what? YOU!
I meet many business owners who say, Hema make it rain! We want the phones ringing and customers pouring in. This is music to my ears, and certainly gets the creative thinking going. As a sales and marketing veteran, creating leads and closing sales is one of my passions. I think it is great how Google has created a platform for us marketers to do some real marketing using their algorithms and codes, keeping us all in check with changes they make on a regular basis. I have my weekly chuckle when I see my SEO team race to uncover Google SEO traps, and the only thing I can say is that if your SEO person seems relaxed……they are simply not in tune, and you need to find someone that knows what they are doing!
My last tip today:
Mobile websites play a huge role these days to get your keywords ranked. If you have a website which is not mobile optimized, you need to get one! And I tell everyone I meet, DO NOT pay twice for a desktop and mobile set-up, but once by using our Responsive Website technology. Time and time again I cringe at the way business owners have to spend twice as much for a website and are not satisfied. The life span of a website this era, is between 12 and 18 months and if you are not getting your website refreshed, you will get left behind. Just remember this also, your website has to be a sales platform not an art museum! Marketing is based on the theory of exchange and not the theory of art – if you can get your head around this, you might just see SEO, and any other online marketing tool as a must have for your business.
